Now unfortunately many of my classes have expired, but I'm ok with that lvn/rn just long as I'm nursing. Hi! My name is Kaliyah and some traits about me that help me to be a great caregiver is my ability to be understanding, compassionate, and a great communicator. My personal experience being a caregiver to my loved ones also adds to this. What attracted me to being a caregiver is wanting to help those who need it most. I have seen first hand and experienced what it's like to not be physically and mentally able to do for yourself and a little bit of help from a helping hand goes a long way. I recently was taking care of my grandmother who was independent living on her at the age of 94. I would always take her grocery shopping, doctor appointments and out for lunch for 2 yrs every week. She recently passed away and now I have the feeling of being there for other's who needs a great companion, to whom they can talk to as long as they need and someone who can care for them. The main thing I enjoy about being caregiver, are the conversations that I have with my patients. We talk about my life and there's, and what all has changed in such a short period of time. The personal achievement I'm proud of is getting into the medical assistant program after attempting 3 tries with my one core class that was holding me back.
