I started nursing school in college and then went straight to work at hospitals, nursing homes, and at the comfort of people's homes. I am an advocate for the Alzheimer's Association, and volunteer as a caregiver support group facilitator. I was a Librarian back in the Philippines but when I came to the US in 2006, my friend encouraged me to try working with the elderly as a caregiver. Since then, I have been working as a caregiver and I developed the love and passion in taking care of the elderly. I had experienced.taking care.of elderly with different health issues such as Alzheimers, Dementia, diabetis, heart diseases (ie. CHF), Lung or respiratory disease, Stroke, non-ambulatory, bed bound elderly, etc. I assist them with their activities of daily living, prepare meals, laundry, do light housekeeping, medication reminder, assist with their errands and there were some elderly who asked me to organize their bills, do grocery and run other errands for them. I was not only a caregiver.but also a personal assistant. I am proud of being a caregiver because I know I make a difference in the lives of the elderly and I become part of the last journey of their lives. My nationality is Filipino, married, with 4 grown up children and 12 grandchildren who live in the Philippines.
Hi my name is Jazzmere and I've been a certified nurse assistant for 8 plus years. I got into the field because I like helping people and also I have family members in the nursing field. I do have a personal connection with being a caregiver, I took care of my grandfather who was battling Parkinson's disease. I took care of him in his final days here on earth and made him as comfortable as possible. I miss him very much. Besides being a caregiver, I enjoy spending time with my family and especially my 5 year old son. He is the most important person to me. If I'm not spending time with family I'm in school part time pursuing my nursing degree.
I became a caregiver to help others, it's always given me pleasure knowing I was able to make someone else's life a little better. I like being a caregiver because it allows me to give back what has been in me. The thing I'm mostly proud of is how much I've accomplished throughout my life. I'm 37 years of age and I've been a CNA for about 13 years now. I'm a very family-oriented, compassionate person who cares about the level of care I provide to others. I'm very dedicated to those I provide services for. I believe in the clients' right to choose his/her care along with treating the client and their loved ones with dignity and respect.
I became a Nursing Assistant when my grandfather was diagnosed with Cancer it was hard on my grandmother, but once I stepped in with bathing, helping with light housekeeping around the house or just letting my grandmother get out for an hour or two her load was lightened it was a blessing. I felt giving back to my grandfather for all the love and support he has given me all the years was truly from the heart, he later passed away within three months then my grandmother was diagnosed with Cancer and I stepped in for her with just myself and my little children and again it was a blessing but challenging at same time but God gave me strength through my trail and made me strong. If i can give that to everyone I come in contact with am complete because it's from the heart helping someone with a bath, dressing them for the day, of just having a conversation means a lot to so many.. I love what I do and can give another individual
My 13 years experience in caring and assisting people who can't do for themselves. My characters (trustworthy, reliable, responsible, accountable, caring) shows me with so much compassion for the people I serve makes me a great Caregiver/Personal Assistant/CNA. I became a CNA/Caregiver/Personal Assistant because I enjoy taking care of people who have lost their ability to handle their basic needs. I like being a CNA/Cargiver/Personal Assistant cause I take comfort in knowing that I make people comfortable as possible, put a smile on their face, and help improve the quality of life for them during what can be a trying time in their life. One personal achievement I am proud of is being the main role, for 6 years, in helping a man regains a positive outlook on/for his life after suffering a Stroke that left him with paralized on his right side, wheel chair bound, and told that he would never walk again. I committed myself to be his leaning tower(Personal Assistant/Caregiver). After 5 years of going to Physical and Occupational therapies 3 times a week with him, learning the exercises, then assisting him with these exercises in his home.he is no longer wheel chair bound, he walks 2 miles a day , he drive his vehicle, he's continues exercising in a gym, and he's no longer depress about his ability but encourage others living with a disability.
I have always enjoyed waiting on, taking care of, and the company of the elderly, I also like lightening the load of the family. The things that I like about being a Caregiver, is the personal satisfaction I get out of being where I'm needed and receiving so many letters of appreciation from so many families, and office staff. I am a very loving 61-year-old CNA/Home Health Aide (10 years), Caregiver, Companion/Sitter, with 26 years of Home Healthcare under my belt. I am empathetic, full of compassion, kind and have (so I've been told), possess a wonderful sense of humor. I enjoy being helpful and have loads of energy, which helps a lot, considering I love to stay busy. I am computer savvy, and can perform certain duties online. My client's and their families become very comfortable around and with me. They soon realize that I enjoy challenges, and I have a great working relationship with other members of the medical team. I am a great cook, and have so much experience in the home healthcare field, that I can handle pretty much anything that comes my way. All in all, myself, and others that matter, believe that this is my niche in life; and I am excellent at it. Proficient in Alzheimer's/Dementia, Cancer, Hospice, and Incontinent Care. I specialize in couples. General Housekeeping and laundry provided, depending on the case.
