I grew up going to work with my mother as she was a caregiver for the angel network. I learned the importance of patience, empathy and integrity. Sometimes all they want Is their feelings acknowledged. This ensures they feel equal and helps keep their sense of dignity. A caretakers most important quality should be compassion and focus. When I walk through your door my phone is off and I'm ready for the day. I will treat your loved one as if she/he were my own family. I have been doing this for several years now and I've witnessed many different styles of care. Positive attitude is key. Keeping my calm helps your loved one to trust me. It's important to me they feel I am happy to be with them. Nobody wants to feel babysat. I pride myself on being able to care without the patient feeling embarrassed or overwhelmed. Well it started out personal for me , watching my grandmother get up in age, with no one to Care for her, and I realized that there are other's in her situation, I have an old soul, as a young girl I found it more interesting being around people much older than myself, but I also realize as they get older they get helpless and people seem to shy away from such and then they become lonely as well , so I took up a trade in 1990 and got my certificate to become a caregiver/housekeeper, that is something that I am very proud of and the best part of it all is making new friends, that is really in need of a true friend, and keeping those friendships for year's to come, in the comfort of their own homes . I'm looking for a full-time/part-time position, I am available to start ASAP Monday through Saturday afternoon & evening and sometimes late night hour's.

I believe I was born to be a caregiver. I was blessed in 1985 with a beautiful daughter with CP. (She passed in 2006) This gave me an insight into how hard it is to find a person who is in this profession for the right reasons. The two key words for me with any client are dignity and respect. I remember at all times that this is a human being who is loved and has loved. If dementia has changed their personality as it always does, I always remember that any behaviors are not the person but the disease. I have always been told that I have an inordinate amount of patience and I think that is true. I also respect the fact that the family has their own wishes and expectations and am very careful about not over stepping those boundaries.
