1.) I became a caregiver because at a young age my grandmother was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. I watched her battle through and eventually she lost the war. On top of the cancer my nana also had a brain tumor, epilepsy, and high blood pressure that needed to be monitored daily. Helping her through her battle and watching her go through her ups and downs gave me the drive I needed to pursue a career in the health field. 2.) What I like mainly about being a caregiver is being able to help others and having success stories. Being able to help others and seeing them be happy even if its for a short period of time makes it well worth it. 3.) A personal achievement that i am proud of is applying and being accepted into a Medical Assistant program. I am proud that not only did I finish the program but i graduated with honors. 4.) Something about myself: I love what I do. The career that I have chosen for myself fulfills me in ways that are indescribable. I love people, I love being able to strike up a conversation about anything to anyone. I am a very family oriented person, my mom has 2 other sisters and my father is 1 of 10 children so family is very important to me. I am the oldest of 3 and have a half sister that is 4. My youngest brother also just had a baby so I have a 9 month old nephew that I couldn't picture life without. I set goals for myself and try my hardest to fulfill the goals i set, whether they're daily, weekly, monthly or yearly goals i try

I am a very loving and compassionate and patient person who enjoys the simple things in life and gets pleasure out of helping other people with these simple things we all can take for granted at times and this was my reason for getting into the medical field. I grew up with a sibling who was disabled since birth and completely dependent on other people including assistance with feedings, hygiene, and every day functions. Among my disabled sibling, within the past 5 years have also dealt with Alzheimer's as a grandparent of my mine is currently dealing with. I know that there are times not only the patient needs support of a caregiver, but so does their family. I enjoy seeing the satisfaction on people's faces when either the simplest of tasks is assisted with or some complicated tasks. I enjoy all age ranges from infants to the elder's and every age in between. I am a happy person who love's to laugh and love's to make other's laugh and smile and just simply enjoy life. This is a new area for me "professionally", however as stated previously, "personally" it was something I grew up doing and enjoying it very much! I do not believe any education or training can make you a great caregiver, it is something that is not taught but within a person's self. The education is a plus for those who have some medical needs, and I have a total of 5 years experience in an office setting of a family practice. My focus here is helping a family and patient enjoy life and ensuring the family is at ease knowing there loved one is in good hands. I care for my patients as if they were my own family, as that is what we all want for our loved ones.
