I took care of my sick mother until she passed away. Later, a friend introduced me to the field of caregiving. Though I had formerly been a school teacher, caregiving fit like a glove. A client once asked me why I chose this profession, and I told her that I wanted to make a difference in people's lives. I offer personal care, housekeeping services, and companionship. When my client was dying, I held her hand the entire time, not knowing that the daughter had entered the room and observed my action. After her death I received a note from the daughter describing how she had been touched by my action. As a former teacher, I am punctual, compassionate, empathetic, and sentimental; I laugh and cry with my clients. My current job involves caring for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their homes. I have recently been providing a client with personal hygiene in the morning through CareLinx.

I believe that families should be confident knowing they have a great care giver. Care giving comes naturally. Care giving also, comes from the heart.

I became a caregiver because of my passion for the job as well as making a living. being a caregiver is a selfless act and it means giving your all to make your clients comfortable and happy. I received my BA from Virginia Commonwealth University and I am currently working on my masters at Mary Baldwin University. I work a full-time at home job and am looking to pick up a few hours working as a CNA. I enjoy working as a CNA because I love getting to know people and their stories, assisting those who may have no one else to depend on, and providing genuine support. As a care giver, what makes me a great is rendering a satisfactory care to clients and also making sure I met their goals per their plan of care. I love helping/assisting people reach their goals and what I enjoyed most about being a caregiver is putting a smile on my patients face at the end of my shift.
