After 18 years of executive asst/Mktg I was in a bad car accident. During my healing process I determined I needed to return the great blessing of wonderful caregivers (vs helping someone make more money) and try to assist others in their daily quality of just living.

I have worked as a Caregiver over 20years, doing Home Healthcare, Foster Care and in Skilled Nursing Facilities. I have experience with children as well as adults and elderly with Autism, Alzheimers, Dementia, Hypertension, Diabetes, Asthma and too many others to name. I am a 56yr old female and have been caring for/ assisting seniors and disabled/challenged adults for 12 yrs. I am certified with the state as a Certified Nurse Assistant, also trained in BLS, AED, and CPR, which allows me to work in Home Care, Hospitals, Rehab. Facilities, and Senior Care/Long-Term Care Facilities... but I prefer Home Care. I Love what I do and am compassionate and patient with my clients/patients. I hold an impeccable driving record and a chauffeur license, and have a trustworthy, well-maintained, well-insured vehicle chosen specifically for working with my clients(easy seating with easy access for walkers/wheelchairs). Working part-time/occasionally for an agency, I am required to keep a CLEAR CRIMINAL BACKGROUND as well as remain current on my CPR/BLS and CNA training/certifications and TB testings. I spent the last 4 years My Grandma Winnie's life visiting her weekly delivering the Sun newspaper (Mom & her had in the past- would see who could finish the New York Times crossword puzzle 1st usually earlier that evening!) I'd take her to the Movies, she really enjoyed our visits WE shared together. Just as I did with her! This was years after my mom passed that we developed this special connection. By learning from Grandma.... I had learned that there is a lot of similarities in ME that have transfer thru my Peers! They are & will be part of me always...

I'd describe my personality as a kind, generous, full of laughs, and easy-going. I'm looking for a job that allows me to support an older adult live their life as they wish to. I have completed training as a certified nurse's aide (CPR included) at OCC recently, so if any issue arises, your parent would have a steady hand available to make sure he gets the care needed. I have training with mobility issues and bathing and can provide care help in the best, safest ways. I'm also trained as a spiritual companion so listening and conversation comes easily to me on any topic. In my spare time, I like to cook, garden, read, do genealogy, go for walks in nature, and watch old movies. I enjoy taking the time to listen to another and give them the space to understand their desires and then support them in serving those as best we can. My skills include listening, patience, kindness, laughter, and prudence. I am available to serve 20 hours a week with some flexibility there. I am married and don't have children so I am sure we could find a schedule that works for your parent and I.
