Fast forward to 1990, I knew I wanted to be of help and I made it to CNA school to get Certified! I started w/ Nursing/ Rehab in California and finally moved back to Hawaii to be closer to family. There I started helping out w/ taking care of Family and eventually started working for Agencies. One thing I know w/ having to work both Facilities & Homes, it's both rewarding. Difference is Time & Quality of Care! Facility definitely needing to manage Time/ Quality for each patients. Home Care is best for Patient. I came to caring for the elderly when my father's health began to fail following my retirement. I began working for the adult foster care where he resided when they needed a cook. I took on more responsibility when they expanded their business. I am familiar with different dietary needs and enjoy cooking. I have conducted exercise and craft sessions. I feel the elderly deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. This includes personal hygiene and living in a clean environment.

Hello, my name is Shelby. I have been a caregiver for 12 years both in home and in facility settings. I am a motivated worker, detail oriented, and always looking to learn new skills to help improve the way I can help others. I grew up going to work with my mother on the weekends at the care facility she worked at and fell in love with the work. As soon as I was old enough I started in the same field. I have worked with the elderly, also with mentally disabled patients as well. I have experience with Alzheimers, dementia, bi-polar, schizophrenia and many other conditions. I found my love for the this work at a young age it has always been my passion to help others, I enjoy seeing the smiles I am able to create even by helping with the smallest tasks.
