I am a 31yr old caregiver/medication technician I have been in this field for 9yrs. When I was little I loved making sure my grandmother and great grandmother was okay and I always helped them around the house. I wanted to continue doing that when I grew up but also help other people as well. I love being able to help somebody achieve a goal or an activity. It makes my job worth it. I have been a caregiver for over 30 yrs and have had a variety of patients from dementia to patients who only need errands run to sitting and visiting. I love caring for the elderly and finding out about their lives and what makes them smile. I never mind doing anything around the house to helping out including tidying up to cooking a healthy meal. I think I am a natural care giver as I find myself helping out in almost in situation. My biggest achievement was probably my last patient who after working with for 1yr became independent again after being totally incontinent not eating not walking to totally independent at 76. This was a first for me and was very proud that I had the opportunity to assist in his recovery.
