The main reason I became a CNA to help my grandmother. Being raised by my grandmother, I want to do anything I could to help her as she has done for me until her passing. Since her death in 1977, I use my skills and experience helping other seniors. What I enjoy most about caring for seniors is knowing I have made a different in their lives. When I provide care to my clients, I'm providing care to myself, a very good friend, my grandmother, my mother, my grand father, because my clients are a part of my family. My greatest achievement in caring for my clients is when I can give them something that the doctor or medication cannot give and that's a sense that life doesn't have to be over. For example I have bought home clients from the hospital who was given two weeks to live, after caring for them they out live the two weeks by months and one lived almost a year longer than what the doctor had given. She was able to travel twice to her home state (from California to Ohio), driving herself to church, going out to lunch and dinner with friends. Those were the things she enjoyed doing before she became ill. Something about me, I received my C N A in high school (1976), I have three children two boys and one girl (decease). I also attended two colleges Long Beach City College in Long Beach, CA and Columbia MO online course. My major is Human Services. I'm currently working for a Home Care Agency who only take care of veterans.

I am a recent grad from UNCG, and now a current nursing student who truly loves taking care of people. I became a caregiver because of my Great Grandmother. I helped my parents take care of her while she lived with us for 4 years. I loved it. I love caring and helping people. One thing of many that I like about being a CNA is helping others and hearing their life stories. The personal achievement I am proud of going to school and becoming a CNA. I have been married for 6 years and have a 5 year old little boy. My husband and son are my life.

I became a caregiver in 2015 when my stepdad became ill and my mother needed help with taking care of him. I moved from Charlotte NC and took on the responsibility of helping my mom around the clock with his care. We lost my Dad in December 2016. At this time I continued to look at my grandmother and help with other family members not having a CNA or other credentials. Then in 2018 my biological father became very sick in November 2018 and at that time we chose Hospice care but I soon took over and continued around the clock care until he expired December 2018. I have since obtained my CNA and other certification because my stepfather and my biological father have been my inspiration to take care and love others.
