I am a 28 yr old caregiver/medication technician I have been in this field for 7yrs. When I was little I loved making sure my grandmother and great grandmother was okay and I always helped them around the house. I wanted to continue doing that when I grew up but also help other people as well. I love being able to help somebody achieve a goal or an activity. It makes my job worth it.

I love love to care for people who cannot care for themselves. Caring for the elderly enables them to not worry about the things they cannot do anymore and celebrate the things that they can, not only supporting them in their care needs, but also providing them with a valued friend and confidant. I am very happy and upbeat. I love helping and caring for people. I love giving companionship and care. I assisted taking care of an elderly woman in her last year of life. I gave her some many laughs and kept her happy in her life. I helped her walk for her family on Mother's Day. I took her last family photo. I had her do a thankful bowl for her family. It was the hardest and best year of my life!! I grew to consider all as part of my family as well as them considering me as well. It is a very fulfilling job, helping others help themselves.

I am very patient with my clients. Some clients with dementia requires repetition of instructions constantly and I believe that I have the patience and understanding to explain instructions and assist patients in situations like this. Because, I love to teach and help others. I also put myself in my client position, if a member of my family is in this situation, I would want to have someone who is companionate and understanding to their needs.
