I have over 10 years of experience working as a caregiver. I'm easygoing , fun and loving individual. I started out with individuals with MR and IDD. Now I work with brain injury patients. No difference between every one being served deserves quality care and companionship.

I have been a caregiver for over 30 yrs and have had a variety of patients from dementia to patients who only need errands run to sitting and visiting. I love caring for the elderly and finding out about their lives and what makes them smile. I never mind doing anything around the house to helping out including tidying up to cooking a healthy meal. I think I am a natural care giver as I find myself helping out in almost in situation. My biggest achievement was probably my last patient who after working with for 1yr became independent again after being totally incontinent not eating not walking to totally independent at 76. This was a first for me and was very proud that I had the opportunity to assist in his recovery.

I've always been the type of person people come to for comfort and support, so caregiving feels natural to me. I genuinely enjoy helping others and being there when someone needs it most. Knowing that I can make someone's day easier or better is what really drew me to this field. I enjoy building real connections and being someone that people can trust and depend on. I was attracted to be a caregiver when I had surgery and I had a great care giver who helped me out untill I got up into my feet. I felt the need to become a caregiver .It gives me the joy of seeing client needs met and their goals achieved when they become independent.

I honestly never saw myself as becoming a caregiver. I am very energetic but at the same time I have a very laid back personality. I am very easy to get along with and enjoy meeting and getting to know new people. Most people would say I have a lot patience but I just try to treat people as I would want them to treat me. Back in 2010 I made a decision to move back to Halifax County to be closer to my aging but very active and healthy parents. Not long after the move, we made the decision to allow my intellectually challenged older brother to move in with me. I eventually had to became more active with helping my dad as he started to have health problems and almost simultaneously, my brother's health began to decline. Unfortunately back in 2017, I lost both my dad and brother. Being able to help them with their doctor appointments, medicine and other responsibilities such as hygiene and bathing when it came to my brother, was hard work but an honor. So many people have so many responsibilities that they are not in a position to be a caregiver to their family members when in need. I can truly say from experience it is very rewarding duty. It would be fair to say my experience with my family attracted me to becoming a caregiver. Since, the passing of my brother and father I help my mother out a great deal and having been working with individuals who are intellectually challenged, autistic and deal with various health issues. The thing I enjoy most about being a caregiver is the opportunity to treat and assist a person in need with dignity. This many times is not how we hear people are treated. So the chance to treat someone who may just need a little help or a lot, with dignity and respect is an opportunity and privilege for me. Everyone is someone's mother, father, sister, brother, daughter or son. Being able to help my father remain mostly independent in his final years is probably my greatest achievement and honor.

I was drawn to caregiving because I value helping people feel comfortable, safe, and cared for, especially during times when they need extra support. What I enjoy most about being a caregiver is building meaningful connections and seeing the joy and relief families feel when they know their loved one is in good hands. I have a passion for what I do. I have patience and understanding when it comes to the elderly. I enjoy listening to them taking care of them and seeing there family members have a piece of mind knowing there mother or father is OK. I am proud to have learned so much in this field. It have given me the skills I need to be able to do my job to the best of my ability.

Hi ! The reason I am in this field is because naturally I am a nurturer. I am happiest when I am able to assist others and when I can bring happiness to people who need it most ! Being in this field I've seen a lot of mistreated patients who didn't deserve anything but the world. So I stay and do what I do because I have the heart to do so. I will treat your family as I would hope others treat mine !
