Hello, I consider myself a warm, compassionate person with a gift of patience. I empathize with many because I know what it feels like to need someone one to lend a hand and how difficult it may be to ask for that help when needed. At age 15, I cared for my dying mother and father, and decided to dedicate my life to be of service to others who could no longer care for themselves. I can honestly say that care giving brings out the best in me. When I see a need, whether it be physical, mental or spiritual one, I am challenged to work with the families to help fulfill that need. One of the most important traits I am told I have is patience. What made me want to be a caregiver is having a friend of the family with autism, seeing how bright of a kid he was, and his potential. And also I've always been a person that likes to help out. I find the job very rewarding when you see your clients improving for the better. It's the small things we take for granted that are huge victories for them, something as simple as doing their own laundry, lacing shoes, preparing their own meals, the list goes on. I'm most proud of one of my clients for learning how to be more independent with his chores and everyday life. Something that was very difficult for him. But with time and preservation he's gone from having 2 on 1 support around the clock to just 1 staff at all times overseeing his activities. Also his S.I.B's went down from being almost an every day thing to only one every 3 months or so. Truly a rewarding experience I'm thankful to be a part of!
