I been a caregiver for 9 years and enjoy caring for others it makes me feel great about myself knowing that I can be a help to others and seeing them progress to getting better.

Over the years, I have worked in various roles where the need to work closely with other people, follow strict rules and procedures, and demonstrate understanding and empathy have been required. My name is Destini, I have been a home health aide/attendant for 5 years. I'm certified by new york department of health. I've been working with patients since I was 15. I went to a medical high school ; Clara Barton and through there I started to volunteer and work at nursing homes and private cases because I love helping people. I believe my best qualities as a home health aide are, I treat my patients and their families the same way that I would want another caregiver to treat my family if they needed assistance. I am compassionate and I empathize with the people I assist. I have kind heart and I'm efficient in the tasks I have to do with my patient. I have a lot of energy and pay close attention to my patient. I do grocery shopping can cook meals and make a meal plan specifically for their nutritional needs based on their health. I do housekeeping, scheduling appointments for activities, program and doctors. The most rewarding experience I had in this field is just hearing a patient say thank you. Those two words have a lot of meaning to me, it makes me know I'm doing my job right. I don't plan on stopping here in the health field, I am going to school for a degree in registered nursing. I am currently a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). I have my Bachelors degree in Community and Human Services from Empire State College. I have 4 years experience with seniors with dementia and Alzheimer's disease. I was also the sole live in caregiver for 2 years to my mother whom has a stroke and needed help from toileting, bathing, relearning to talk, read, and walking. I have experience working with fostered youth as well as disabled children with an array of symptoms. I enjoy this work to the fullest and plan on furthering my education in Febuary by pursuing a career as an LPN.

My name is Maleka Lawrence I have been a certified home health aide since 2009. I have work with a variety of different clients over the years of me being a Aide. I have work with clients with all Hoyer lift, g-tube feedings, wound care, TBI, Alzheimer's and dementia, pediatric care etc. I love being aide because i'm helping someone stay in there home and be comfortable but also get the care they need to stay home and not a facility. I would say I'm a great caregiver because I have the skills and training but I also put my heart and compassion into every client I work with where all human and where all gonna need some type of help one day. I treat everyone if I was in there shoes. I became a caregiver because i want to be a nurse but I found myself loving Homecare.

I'm a nice caring woman. I got interested in this job because my grandmother had an stroke and she would have needed a aide so I got in the next class there was completed the class and she passed the same day I graduated I was thinking about not even doing home care any more because of her passing but I knew I could make her proud by being someone else's support system/ caregiver . I love just being and caring for my clients making them happy makes me happy!!

I have worked in the health care field for 15 years. I started off working with the elderly in nursing homes. Over the years I have gained wonderful experience caregiving in different places. I've worked with the developmentally disabled from young to elderly. I have experience working with Alzheimer's and dementia in nursing facilities as well as psychiatric units. I have worked in every unit at my local hospital. I have experience in trauma and emergency room care as well as long term care and even comfort care. I have a lot of experience in psych and state homes as a contract employee. I am very comfortable and experienced with cooking, cleaning, bathing, passing meds, toileting, etc. I can be the listener a client needs when they just need someone there to talk to and I can also be the friend they need for advice and comfort. I have a very high level of compassion for my field, the patients and their families. I am very organized and reliable. I am always able to perform all tasks and I understand how to balance the needs of the patient with the needs of the organization. I am very good with communication and very physically able to care for others! Healthcare is my passion
