For the past 9 years I was a Personal Caregiver for a 98 year old elderly woman with errands, paperwork, Dr. appointments,and grocery shopping. I also helped an elderly man in his 80's with Parkinson's for 1 1/2 years. During that time I was responsible for medication management, wound care, bathing, personal grooming, dressing, meal prep, feeding if needed, house cleaning, and laundry. I have been certified here from The Care Academy for being a Professional Caregiver, Preventing Falls In Older Adults, and 5 different categories for Alzheimer's and Dementia . I currently drive an elderly woman with Dementia to Daycare 2 days per week her daughter hired me, and gave me a 5-star rating on care.com so I have excellent references. I have always liked people and helped others. I been a caregiver on and off for over 30 years. I have taken care of many people like they were my own family. My patients needs and wants will always come first. I may someday need care and i will give my patients the respect and care that I want for myself if needed someday. For the last three years I have been with a wonderful lady who pass on her 102 birthday and her daughter who will be moving to an independent living on Oct 1. This is why I will be leaving here this house is to big for the both of us and there to many memories here which we both become sad at times. I love working with people, especially those that need a bit of extra help throughout their days. It is incredibly humbling to serve people in such basic ways, and makes me appreciate everything I have been given in life. Having had experience already in this field at YAI, I've developed a lot of patience and compassion to put the needs of whoever I serve before myself. I am most proud of the way I handled my last experience there as a direct support professional. There I was responsible for two individuals each day, who could not communicate using words and thus didn't have much say in their lives. Every single day, I really tried to enrich their lives by adding an activity or teaching a new skill that would help them feel active and involved in their lives.

I'm passionate about elderly care because I love to care for people and I have a desire to help others. I have worked in the health care field in private homes and health care agencies. I was a live-in 24/7 caregiver. I did have time off but still as a live-in one has to be compassionate and help someone even on days off. I go above and beyond to make my clients comfortable and happy. I can do live-in, 12 hours full-time or part time. I prefer cash payment weekly.
