Homecare has been apart of my life for the last 13 years, which started with taking care of my grandparents. I am a medical assistant (14years, also certified in CPR/FirstAid). I strive to make loved ones feel comfortable and safe in their own home. I take pride in knowing that your loved ones can be at home getting the one on one care that they need and deserve. I am extremely passionate about offering comfort and care. I always say, "there are not enough hours in my day to do what I love doing, which is being flexible, compassionate, trustworthy, and respectful to someone's loved one." Caregiving to me is not considered a job, its my life calling!

I feel that I am a great caregiver because I enjoy helping people with there everyday needs; such as dressing, toileting, appointment reminders, medication reminders, serving meals, feeding, laundry, transporting, and anything else that the client would need assistance with. I enjoy assisting people to live a better life; such as helping a client to live as comfortable as possible, and as independently as possible. I am a patient, quiet, shy, reliable person. I am also a focused person, and I take the position being a caregiver seriously because, I strive and work hard to be an over achiever. The thing that I liked about being a caregiver was that; I was a companion for a couple in Shaker Heights Ohio for three years. The wife had Multiple Sclerosis. I would take care of the wife while the husband was away from home. I assisted her with her medications; by making sure that she had taken her meds for the afternoon and evening. I didn't have to worry about the mornings because her home health aides had taken care of it. Furthermore, I made sure that she was comfortable in bed because she was bedridden, also I would give her the remote to the T.V. or the radio so that she could change the station. I didn't have to do any cooking because the meals came delivered to the couple's house prepared and ready to serve. The couple had home health aides that came to the home in the mornings everyday so I didn't have to serve the wife breakfast; but I did serve her lunch and dinner or anything else that she had wanted to eat such as dessert, or a snack. What I enjoy most about being a caregiver is, that can work with all kinds of patients with different nationalities, and backgrounds. I like learning about different beliefs, religions, culture, etc. A personal achievement that I am most proud of is that would be my education. I am studying healthcare administration. The degree that I am seeking is a doctorate.

I have been working in the Orthopaedic field mostly and am looking for a career shift. Mainly, because my parents are getting older themselves and need more time and assistance. I'm looking for a more flexible career and opportunity. When I'm working, I'm 100% there. I am reliable and committed. I love helping others and understand the difficulty when family roles start shifting as I am in that position now myself.

I became a caregiver because I wanted to take care of people and help them. I currently work in a residential facility where I take care of individuals with developmental disorders. I enjoy my work and I enjoy helping the people I take care of. I enjoy the people I work with. There's a lot of team work that is required at this place and I am very thankful for the people I have to help me. I do enjoy talking to my consumers and hanging out with them. Most of them can't talk to me, but that doesn't stop me from talking to them! My biggest achievement at this point is that I just returned to nursing school. I spent many years avoiding it and finally I came to the realization that this is my dream and I needed to pursue it. Within a few months I was accepted and enrolled into a great nursing program; currently it is on line so I am able to work around my busy schedule with it. In addition to attending nursing school I baby sit occasionally, I have these amazing twin girls that I have known since they were babies and I watched for a couple of summers and now I still hang out with them and watch them every now and them. I do not have any children of my own, though I hope too one day. My boyfriend and I are talking more and more about our future, but nothing is set in stone yet. In the meantime, I have a niece and twin nephews that I can love on and play with.

I like to think of myself as a very compassionate individual for people or individuals that need assistance. My background in EMS as an EMT has led me to my job as a medical assistant. I find it rewarding to connect to my patients and give them the comfort of knowing that I am there to help them in their time of need. I enjoy knowing that on a daily basis that I can make a difference in someone's life.
