I have a kind way about myself I guess you can say. I am considered the go to aide, if a resident is upset and needs an understanding ear to listen to them. A lot of times my residents feel like they control nothing in their lives anymore, and I try to help them still feel important with a purpose. I let them do for themselves what they can, and help them with things they need help with. Almost my whole life I wanted to takes care of people in some way shape or form. My Grandma used to call me her little nurse for the age of around 5. I loved helping her and taking care of her. Now when I take care of people, I remember my Grandma calling me her little nurse, and it makes me very happy. I truly love helping elderly people. They helped raise us all, and take care us. Now its my turn, to help them and take care of them if they need the help

Even as a little girl I have always enjoyed helping people any way I could. I have always been drawn to the medical field in some way. I started as a PCA helping with medications, insulin, wound care, some personal care. I then became a CNA and have worked with many wonderful people. From helping with basic care needs, to being someone they could share company with. To full care needs. Dressing, dinning, bathing, physical therapy, helping transfer from sitting ro standing. Wheelchair to bed. I love being able to make someone smile in anyway I can.

I became a Cna after taking care of my grandmother before she died from cancer. There was something so fullfilling about being able to give her care at her home in her last days. I have now been a cna for over 10 years. The hardest part of the job to me is not getting attached. I have a big heart and every patient I have ever had has been considered family to me.
