This is a little about me. I am a down to earth individual. I chose to get into the medical field because I was tired of working jobs that paid minimum wage and not enough hours. I wanted to do CNA because it suits my personality well. I have always taken care of my family so I thought why not get paid for doing what I already do. Since being a CNA I have saved up for my own apartment. I could not have gotten my apartment with a warehouse job or working at a fast food place. I really like it when the client and I have a good bond and a great understanding. I like to make people laugh because I believe that is the best medicine. I believe in treating people the way you want to be treated. So if you allow me to take care of your loved one you will not be disappointed

I'm a great caregiver because my first experience came from home. Having your grandparents live with you is very rewarding and challenging all in one. But, I enjoy it everyday and because I know how I would want them to be treated. I do my best to treat all those that I interact with as such. With as much love and care as possible. I enjoy being a caregiver because I just love to help people. I am always putting myself out there to give help to those who need it.

I am very compassionate and patient. I want a career in health care and wanted to start off as soon as possible, and it was the best decision of my life so far! I am proud of being a CNA itself, being 18 years old and doing what I do is very mature and challenging for someone my age but I love it so much.

I'm Emily, I'm 26 and I'm on my 7th year of experience as a CNA. As of this fall I am taking my pre-requisites for the nursing program and plan to become a Psychiatric Nurse. I originally became a CNA because I worked as a dietary aid at South Bay Manor in South County, and I had a patient that I became very close with over time, and when he got sick and ended up passing away , all I wanted to do was to be able to help in any way. The family sent a card thanking me saying he loved me a lot. After that I knew that I wanted to enter the healthcare field as a CNA. What I believe makes me a great caregiver is my empathetic, extremely energetic, and compassionate personality. I have worked with patients of all types from psychiatric and Alzheimer's/memory care units to long term and/or rehab units. I'm certified in CPI or crisis prevention intervention, CPR, and I am certified in Alzheimer's/dementia as well. I am always interested in learning more about my patients and the reasons they behave the way they do. I love to find ways to get closer to my residents, especially the challenging ones with past trauma, or those sassy sarcastic patients who keep me laughing actual belly laughs. There is so much for me to say about why I love my job, but I'm attempting to keep it short and sweet! What I enjoy most about being a caregiver is learning new things every day, from patients, co-workers, or learning from the nurses! I love to build relationships with all my patients, and I LOVE when the families approach me to thank me for taking such good care Of their loved one, it truly makes me feel amazing and accomplished, especially knowing that the family knows that their parents or whoever the patient may be to them, is in good hands! That being said, that's also one of the things I'm most proud of, on a somewhat regular basis, being recognized and hearing thank you from patients, families, nurses, other co-workers, or even administration. It feels good to make people feel good!

I am currently a second semester senior at Salve Regina University in the nursing program. I have been a CNA since I graduated high school almost 4 years ago. I have also had clinical experiences throughout college which has fiurther heightened my passion for being a caregiver. I would describe myself as compassionate and empathetic. I truly enjoy my time with the clients and patients I have spent time with and gotten to know. I have found that seniors/the elderly are a population that I feel particularly drawn to. I feel that I can learn so much from listening and being present with people, especially those who have lived different experiences than me in a different time period. I like connecting with those I care for, but I mostly enjoy helping those who need it. I would love the opportunity to provide care for someone in my last semester of college.
