The thing that makes me a great Caregiver is : I love caring for people who need my help ! I'm a CNA , and have worked in a Nursing Home , Private Group Homes , and done Private In Home Healthcare for the elderly . I even took care of my own Mother in my home for several years , seeing to her meds , personal hygiene , meals etc... I took care of her until she was almost 88 years old , became extremely ill , was put on Hospice , and she passed away in my home , with me present ! I basically love people , and find caring for those that need the help of a CNA , very rewarding . A little history about me : I was a stay at home Mom for 20+ years , and raised 5 beautiful children . They are all grown now , and very successful ! All my patients loved me because they knew I really cared about them , and their families !

I am a very experienced, dedicated, caring, compassionate, Certified Nursing Assistant with over seventeen years if experience in the healthcare field. I have worked with a wide variety of patient's of all ages, disabilities, and medical needs:: Alzheimer's, Dementia, Mental Health , Down Syndrome, Autism, Mental Retardation, Parkinson's , Hospice Patient's , or patients recovering from cancer treatments, heart attacks, strokes ,and major surgeries.. I have also worked in a variety of healthcare places such as nursing homes, assisted living facilities, ,clients homes, group homes, physiatrist hospitals , drug treatment facilities, hospitals and emergency rooms . My focus is always on providing my patient's with the best care attainable. I am a patient advocate above all else and feel every patient should feel cared for and listened to in every situation. I am very loyal to my patients and there families and will do whatever I can to make their experience a positive one. I plan on further my skills by becoming a (LVN) License Vocational Nurse, and will be attending classes in the fall . I am very well rehearsed in all First Responder roles such as CPR (child/ adult) First Aide, and Heimlich Maneuver. I have been taking these courses for over sixteen years and I'm very proficient and knowledgeable in the event these skills are needed,. I have had to resuscitate two of my prior clients over the years. All of my training and shots are current CPR/First Aide is up to date until 2023.

This is a time when many of our seniors lose their significant other, have lost friends and realize they are not far from it. Many have loss ability or function in their body and they need that extra care, tender, love, and a companion. No one wants to believe they are not what they use to be, strong, independent and happy, and struggle to admit they are not where they use to be and they need help. I love to be able to be that little light and extra help they can receive. A simple smile can always go a long way. The feeling is rewarding especially when the appreciation goes both ways.

I am a compassionate and caring caregiver with patience and kindness toward all my patients. I became a caregiver/CNA because I enjoy helping people but there's a special place in my heart for the elderly. I enjoy being able to help my patients but I also enjoy having conversations with them and getting to know them. I am proud of my achievement of becoming a CNA 13 years ago and being awarded employee of the month during my time at hospice.
