I've been in nurse for 26yrs i love what I do for my seniors I worked in all types of fields work with all types of people I'm a certified CNA I love seeing there smiling faces when my job is done.

I have great communication skills and am loving, kind, caring, compassionate and most of all patient. I can do whatever it takes to make your loved one comfortable which includes lite cooking, cleaning, running errands, medication reminders, bathing /dressing, companionship and feeding if necessary. When a loved one went into rehab after being in the hospital and finding that the level of care he received while in the nursing home was awful I swore I would help those who needed genuinely good care. I was able to witness those who were not treated fairly and could not speak up for themselves in these homes and family members who were caught between a rock and a hard spot not being able to be there or care for their loved one in their home, my heart went out to them. I love helping people and putting a smile on someone's face. My cases have involved dealing with dementia patients, patients with mobility issues, bed ridden, hospice care and just someone who needs a friend to listen and someone who really cares about them. I am proud to say that those families that I have cared for have been very happy with my services That puts a smile on my face and says I've done a job well done.

I love being a caregiver. I'm kind, patient and caring. I'm also responsible and dependent for my patients and residents.

First I will answer why I became a caregiver. I was working in housekeeping and heard that the class was being offered to become a CNA. I had already realized that I enjoyed saying good morning and chatting with patients and thought this would give me an even greater opportunity to spend quality time with them. I signed up for the training and was successful in completing the course and passing my state license. After I began working, I was thrilled to see the difference a CNA made in the lives of the patients. I got to know their families and the fact that they trusted me to care for their family member made my job serious and important. I love chatting with patients. The stories they tell are so interesting. Many patients are older and have very interesting stories. I like being a CNA and caregiver. The care and compassion I being to my workplace makes a difference in the day of my patients.

I became a caregiver 8 years ago because I love helping others. Helping others makes me feel great. I treat all of patients like they are my own family. I currently work at VCU and I have over 26 tulip awards for my professionalism and hard work. I am honest, respectful, loving, caring, reliable, and dedicated. I make sure I keep my patients and their families happy at all times.

I have been in the medical field since I was in my 20's, it has always been a passion of mine and I am a people person so love being a CNA and meeting new people and being able to help them with their loved ones in all areas of care!!! One of my biggest achievements is that I graduated massage school with honors after being out of school for so long!!! I am a very hard worker and can multi task in any situation!!

I am a very caring and passionate person. I love helping other and being there to help make things easier for them so that they don't have to worry about it. What attracted me to wanting to become a caregiver is knowing that you have some people out that needs help but don't really have anyone that can be there to help them. Some families have to work so they can't always be there for their elderly family members and to know that I can be trusted to go in and help take care of and make sure their elderly family members of even disabled family is properly cared for and kept safe while they were away from home means a lot to me. I chose to become a nurse because not everyone can always get the care that they need or their families work so to be able to fill that role makes me happy. A personal achievement that I am proud of I would say becoming a CNA and now working my way into becoming an LPN in just a few months.

What makes me a good care giver is the fact that I pride myself on providing care for the client/patient, with a holistic approach (mind, body, and spirit) not just the physical limitations, the disease or ailments. I became a caregiver because I am naturally empathetic and attentive to the needs of others, especially seniors. It is my belief that "they", (seniors) paved the way for me to be be where I am today...me choosing to be a caregiver is my way of showing my appreciation and gratitude and paying it forward..! One personal achievement that I'm proud of is my ability to overcome adversity and the challenges of life with a smile and with an openness and a level of maturity and understanding.
