There's nothing like the smile on the face of our elderly ones when they know you really care about them. That's my goal. I really enjoy personal home care since I know my clients are getting all the care and attention they need and deserve. I understand how dementia and Alzheimer's changes a person's personality and attitude and I have all the patience needed to work with these ones. I am a nurse aid, about to take my CNA certification test this month. I currently work for Home Instead Senior Care. I provide both personal care and companion care. I have additional training in caring for Alzheimer's and Dementia patients and most of the clients I currently care for have this. I also have additional certifications in Arthritis care, COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) care, and shower safety training. I have a bright, bubbly, uplifting personality. I love to care for others. I always treat my patients with the same respect and care that I would my own grandparents. Since my teen years I have wanted to become a nurse because of my love for people and caring. During the summers of 2011 and 2012 I worked as a volunteer Certified Nurse Aide in Zambia at a hospital for children with curable disabilities. This experience confirmed my love for nursing and then in 2012 I began taking pre-nursing courses and I will start Radford`s Nursing program in the fall. Nursing is so much more than just the science and the vital signs. Nursing the whole body approach to caring for sick and hurting people. I have learned so much through the patients I have cared for about life and wisdom and that knowledge is a gift I will never forget.

My name is Tammy and I am a former middle and high school teacher. I had a major career change in 2020 due to health issues and again in 2022 when my sweet Pops transitioned. I gave up my teaching career altogether to care for Mama, as Pops asked me to do. Given that Mama does not require around the clock care, I have been able to branch out and provide help to other families both in an assisted living community, and as a private caregiver. It is SUCH an HONOR and privilege to help our seniors at this time in their lives. I have enjoyed every single minute of my time with each person and have learned so much as a result of my time with them.
