I am presently a Restorative Aide (CNA) at the Lutheran Home on North Ave in Milwaukee. Previously, I was a CNA at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center, in the SCI/D wing (spinal cord injury/disorder). I left in search of a more balanced work environment. Additional duties (ones I don't have listed), can definitely be negotiated! I obtained my CNA the start of August 2021. I grew up with my own Grandmother telling me to stop hovering and go offer help to someone who needed it...she also frequently told me, until the day she passed, "Sarah, you would be good working with people, especially like me". I'm guessing she was referring to my patience, helpfulness, and understanding, especially working with "an old gal like her (Grandma's words, not mine). The elderly/frail population is the most I have worked with, but I'm by far not limiting myself to this population only! I have worked with clients with the following diseases/disorders/afflictions: Multiple Sclerosis Parkinson's Disease Various other neurodegenerative diseases COPD Injury to the spine at various levels Missing limb or parts of limb Different stages of Alzheimer's and general dementia Helping with recovery from a stroke at home RA Clients at various stages of cancer treatment And many more specific cases, too numeral to properly list here. I am a Certified Nursing Assistant. I have been a CNA for a little over 13yrs now. I started off helping to care for my great grandmother, who suffered from Alzheimers Disease, 15yrs ago and i have been doing it every since. I love being able to help others out and that includes both my patients and their families. I've learned that doing the smallest things for people can make their whole day, sometimes their whole life, better. There id nothing more rewarding to me than knowing I've help to make some one a little more comfortable or I've helped give someone a little piece of mind. I know that aging and disabilities take a huge toll on not just the patient but the families also.
