My name is Leslie and I have been an active LPN for the past 52 years. The past 35 years I have been working with geriatrics. This past January 29, 2023, I finally retired from the full time work force. Before I graduated from high school one of my jobs was a companion for an elderly woman in our neighborhood. I was also a candystriper in our local hospital. I have 2 daughters and 3 grandchildren whom I can't get enough of! My husband of 34 years had a stroke 3 years ago this November and I am his caregiver.

I have always had a strong relationship with my Grandmother, from as young as I can remember. I watched her as she aged over the years, and became unable to do certain things for herself. It was instinctual for me to just do them for her. It made her feel better knowing she had me there for her and it made me feel good knowing I could help her and make her life easier. I still feel that way today when I am able to help someone out with things they cannot do for themselves. I always think, if I wasn't around for my own Grandmother, I would have wanted a compassionate individual, like myself, to care for her. I take pride in my natural ability to care for the wellbeing of others with the utmost respect. I truly enjoy helping people. That is why I became a certified caregiver.

As a long term caregiver, I am not only very loving and genuine, but I believe that entering into a career choice such as caregiving should be something that one is passionate about. I myself have grown up with family who have selflessly given their time, love and attention to others. I have a natural gift of helping and serving. I would never choose to care for people for just monetary purposes. I have helped care for people since I was a teenager, helping my mom with her clients. I honestly love to serve. I feel fulfilled knowing that I'm able to assist somebody. Being needed is my joy. It motivates me. I care about people's wellbeing as if they are my own family. I have served with a wide variety of people over the last 15 years. I worked in assited facilities, live-in care, and daily care. I have an extensive history with serving elderly and I love what I do. I am very easy to work with. I go above and beyond for people. I dont mind working long hours to help however I can. I look at caregiving as a lifestyle I would hope someone would give my family or myself when needed someday.

I'm a people person who is a very caring individual who love to help other's and is very detail oriented and has many years of experience caring for the elderly or Sick people which I enjoy doing and giving them tender loving care which is important for improving there health and life!!!!

I became a caregiver when I first started caring for my grandma who had dementia. The bond you have with your client and the family when you are a great caregiver is a great feeling. I also explored my options at Dove pointe and delmar villa which I passed out medicine and gave support to my residents/clients with ADL.
