Hello, my name is Shameka Stringer. I am a current resident of Albany, Ga/Lee County. I just previously moved from Birmingham Alabama. My hometown resides in Arlington Ga. I am a mother of 5 kids, whom I love dearly! I have been working as a Patient Care Assistant for many years off and on, which I love. I started as a teenager with my grandmother who was disabled and blind. I was her in-home stay granddaughter for many years. I was trained through other nurses and doctors of how to care for her needs . Baths, medication administering, assisting with doctor visits, cooking and cleaning for her, basically I were her eyes of safe keep. When she was transferred over to the nursing home facility, I also became a volunteer companion sitter there to assist her along with other patients. I loved what i did for her as well as others without pay. It was enjoyment of being in the presence of the elderly and being able to help them when they couldn't help themselves. I love what I do, and that's helping others.

Patience. When dealing with the elderly, it is essential for a caregiver to be patient. Dependability. When the wellbeing of an elderly individual depends on your presence, you need to be there. Confidence. Attentiveness. Trustworthiness. Supportive. Compassionate. Creative.

I believe what makes me a great caregiver is I'm caring, trustworthy, and reliable. I will always put my clients needs first. I have over 15 years of providing care in different settings in home, retirement homes, also caring for some clients that was in the hospital. Caring for others brings me joy that can't be explained in words. The goal is to keep every client independent enough to stay home with their families.

I chose this career because I enjoy helping people there are a lot of people that needs caring for while their family works or etc. I'm encouraging to my patients I have 15 years of experience just dedicated to caring for the elderly I take my job seriously I love the one on one with my patients and that's what alot of patients wants,I hope someday I can get the same services in return just because of the services I gave to someone's family members

I have been a caregiver for 5 years and it comes to me naturally. I love helping others. I'm also an cosmetologist but caregiving is my 1st love and I plan on getting my phlebotomist license soon.

My senior year of high school, I took health occupation, and fell in love with healthcare.

I have over 10 years of Health and Wellness care pertaining to the the Geriatric community. My experience includes working with Dementia and Alzheimer's patients. I know how important it is to have someone there to make sure they attend their doctor appointments, understand the information from the doctor, and to be able to ask questions if needed. What I've enjoy the most about being a Caregiver is the friendship that my patient and I develops over a period of time. One of the many things, I've learned being a Companion Caregiver is you must treat the person you are taking care of like family along with dignity and respect to be able to provide exceptional care.
