I became an LPN in 1992. My career as a nurse was primarily in assisted living, Alzheimer's assisted living and nursing homes. I hurt my back, at home, in 2003 and have had surgeries to correct slipped discs. I can, however, help care for people where lifting is not required. I've been working for a man who had a stroke for 5 years as of 10/2019. They are a wonderful family and will gladly give a reference if requested. I also worked around 4&1/2 years for a lady who cares for the elderly in a couple of houses she owns in Aurora. I had to leave there in August 2019 as lifting was becoming inevitable there. But I did enjoy it. I did light cleaning, laundry, medication administration, light dressing, toileting and cooked and served meals. I also provided simple companionship. I also cared for my elderly grandparents. My grandma had Alzheimer's. It was very difficult for me but, I was extremely close to them and loved them dearly.

Because they are inviting someone into their home to be near their valuables. Flexible. As with most things in life, needs may change and unexpected events can happen. So, it's important that a good caregiver can go with the flow. I was attracted to being a caregiver once my grandmother got sick and I had to take care of her . I enjoy meeting new people and being able to care for people that's in need of help.

I am 28, from Tucson Az. Been living in Illinois for a little over a year and a half. I was raised by my grandparents, my grandpa was a multiple stroke survivor until he was 98years old, I took care of him since I was about 15 years old. Once I turned 19 I got my first caregiver job and been inlove with it ever since. I've worked with Adults, elderly and children. From mental and physical disabilities.
