I am an LPN with 21yrs experience. I have enjoyed working with patients with Alzheimers and Dementia along with intellectual disabilities . I have supervisory experience overseeing Home health aids and have personally seen the struggles for patients and their families in finding good care for their loved ones and the challenges home health aids face. I also have Neurology office experience doing multiple roles as a Nurse and EEg tech and have for learned many strategies to work with patients with Alzheimers and Dementia . I have also had the pleasure of working with patients with Epilepsy, Parkinsons and MS. I have been in the work field since I was 16yrs and my new career path is to be a private duty LPN caregiver where I can work with individuals and their families to make their lifes better with good care and compassion.

I've done companion care for 3 years officially, and was a live-in caretaker for 5 years before that voluntarily. I'm returning to being a Caregiver because I truly miss the time spent helping the elderly and providing them social interaction. I know seeing a younger person be genuinely interested in spending time with them can mean the world to them. I know it lifts burden and worry off their loved one's shoulders knowing someone cares. I enjoy the happiness and joy a break in a monotonous routine I can bring by being there. A fresh person to have a conversation with. To share their life story and interests with. Someone willing to and actively enjoys watching Old TV shows and movies with. That they've not been forgotten. The thing I am proud of moston my life, is fufilling the promise my mother made to my father. That he would not spend his last days in a nursing home. I gave her my word before she passed away in 2017 I would carry on that promise. My father passed away in 2020. Through compassion, love, and a whole lot of patience, he spent his last days in his own home.

What inspired me to start caregiving was my great grandmother. She was a caregiver and I admired the way she would go above and beyond to help people reach their full protentional. My favorite part about caring for people is getting to know each other, learning each others common interests, gaining wisdom from the person and seeing the persons progress! I grew up on a farm in Ohio with 8 sisters, 1 brother, 3 dogs & several cats, ducks & guinea pigs. I have volunteered most of my adult life with a multitude of organizations including: Hospice, the Humane Society, Make A Wish Foundation, the local library, Kitty Konnection (a feral cat rescue), the Rape Crisis Hotline, Big Brothers & Big Sisters, my local church. I enjoy helping people and the company of animals. My hobbies includes music, baking, traveling, reading, movies, and art museums. I have 2 grown sons & 6 grandkids, all of whom live in other states.

Being a caregiver is something that comes natural to me. As a young girl I watched my mom care for our elderly relatives and neighbors.
