When I was 16 my cousins and myself learned how to take care of our I'll grandmother. Our parents didn't put her into a home so we had to learn everything from the bottom. She I graduated from school I went directly into home health. It's a honor to be able to help others take care of their loved ones just like my family and I did for our love one.

It makes me feel great when I can brighten their day, make them understand that they do matter and I'm always their to protect and take care of them. I have family that I take care and I have a caregiver for them as well. So I like to make sure I feel comfortable with them as well as they feel comfortable, trustworthy with me as well. I enjoy preparing meals, reminding them of their meds, taking them to run errands or I will do it if they don't feel like it. But more than anything, I would like them to feel safe with me, I'm their for their needs, and companionship as well. I love to talk and let them know just because I'm here to do these things, they still matter and can enjoy life as well. I'm a good listener, and I have patients. My clients are like family to me. I treat them with much respect as I would if it was my own family.

I'm a good caregiver because I have patience and compassion. A good communicator and have a positive attitude being respectful goes a long way . It's about the patient feeling love warm and knowing that's they secured and I do my job the best to abilities. I love when tell they stories on what happens back in the days and still learn from them and gain knowledge. Honestly, I've always had a giving personality and I like helping people. But I'd love to tell you a story, which really helped me make this decision. When my grandfather passed away, my grandmother was left alone. Plus, her arthritis was starting to worsen, and she began having more and more trouble preparing her meals, bathing, and getting her groceries. So we found her a caregiver and she was absolutely amazing! She stayed with my grandma for longer hours than expected, while telling stories about growing up in Europe. That was very soothing for my grandma, and that caregiver inspired me to join this field. I really try to get to know my patients. I ask a lot of questions. I ask about their feelings and if they're dealing with weighty emotions, like sadness, anger, or anxiety. I listen as much as possible and tell them they can talk to me about anything without worry. I try building trust, and it's a gradual process, but I do my best to get there.

I am a nurse at heart and love caring for those who are in need. I am returning to the work force even though I am always helping my family and friends. They know I will only give them good solid advice and instructions when it comes to their health and well-being.

I've been an LPTA for 17 years and absolutely love my patients! Geriatric patients are my favorite! However, I have grown tired of fighting with Medicare and have chosen to focus on caregiving rather than my previous career in therapy so that i can completelyfocus all my attention on my patient. My patients have always been my focus and my heart.

I've been told repeatedly that I'm and calm, gentle, and responsible. I do know, that I have extreme attention to detail. The accomplishment that I'm most proud of, was earning a bachelors degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Cal Poly Pomona. It was enormously difficult. After spending 20 years in Silicon Valley, I moved to the Big Island, where I now work as a Substitute Teacher. Many aspects of sub'ing parallel those of an excellent care giver. The parents and family of these young children, entrust their safety to me. The day's activities must be documented for review by the regular teacher. And I tend to orient to becoming a friend of the students, because I want the classroom experience to be a pleasant one where the behavior and performance are motivated by mutual respect.
