My name is Emily, it takes a certain kind of person to be a caregiver you have to have patience and time to care about these people as if they were your own grandparents or parents. I enjoy helping with things one more thing is I love to hear the stories of the older people.

Working through home health and dealing with a range of clients, I have learned how to manage and take care of certain clients. The main conditions in which people have been under that I have taken care of, was with paraplegics. Working with these people, I have learned how to communicate with them, do certain things to their liking, operate hoyer lifts, and help navigate through their everyday life ensuring they are the most comfortable and happy. I have worked worked with a select few as well that suffered from dementia and altzheimers. With the year I've worked for addus I have learned how to deal with certain conditions in which people face, such as the dementia and Alzheimer's. I have also learned how to work through task and problems that may come up with people suffering from these diseases. A good trait I would say for myself, is being able to remain calm, and professional in difficult situations. Another good trait is I'm a fast learner on learning how certain clitents like certain things to be done, and when they like it to be done. I'm good on getting on a routine schedule with clients. It makes it not only easier for me, but for them as well.

They say if you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life. I LOVE my field in which the job I do. I love helping/caring for people that cannot do for themselves. Growing up having a family full of healthcare providers I was almost summoned to the group but not against my will. Particularly, in home care is my favorite type of work.

I am 54 years old. I am a Christian. I was a CNA for 13 years working in various skilled settings such as long term care, rehabilitation care, hospice care and hospital care. I am a fun loving person who enjoys helping others. I have always loved helping others in need. My greatest achievement as a care provider is bringing a smile during difficult times. I do provide non - medical care assistance based on my years of professional care giving experience in long term care and rehabilitation , hospice, home health care and hospital care. I am a 41 year old Happy Mother of a sweet 20 year old Wonderful son. Most of my adult life ive just been a mother and all my choices were about my son, now is time for me. I love camping and living a simple life, and i love my animals. I have been a caregiver in one form or another most of my life because I love to help people. I have had several part time caregiver roles over the years and helped many families take care of there loved ones and i have good references if needed. I have also been a child care provider from my home and i love to help and take care of children as well. I have those references as well if needed. I am told i am a great caregiver because i am very compassionate, patient, loving and i treat everyone like family. I enjoy being a caregiver most when i help a person i am caring for reach a personal goal or when i am praised for going above and beyong. My proudest personal achievement is my son, seeing him be grown and making a life for himself and now getting to go on and make a new life for myself that's about doing what I want to do and what is best for me.
