For the past 9 years I was a Personal Caregiver for a 98 year old elderly woman with errands, paperwork, Dr. appointments,and grocery shopping. I also helped an elderly man in his 80's with Parkinson's for 1 1/2 years. During that time I was responsible for medication management, wound care, bathing, personal grooming, dressing, meal prep, feeding if needed, house cleaning, and laundry. I have been certified here from The Care Academy for being a Professional Caregiver, Preventing Falls In Older Adults, and 5 different categories for Alzheimer's and Dementia . When they see a familiar face everyday it makes them feel good and their willingness becomes better as the days go by. Their faces light up and they talk to you about anything that's on their mind. Even if they say the same things over and over again, it gives them great pleasure that you are willing to listen. Seeing the happiness on their face is the best achievement that I could ever give.
