I have been working in senior care and healthcare since the mid 1990's while in college. My experience first began when volunteering in the Adopt a Grandparent program and as an Activities Assistant in a Pittsburgh Nursing Home. I was married to a minister for 20 years and had many great experiences with the elderly in the church and home setting. We moved to Carthage, MO and I became a certified CNA and CMA. I've experience with nursing homes, assisted living, in home care as well as private clients. Through all of this I have truly found a love and compassion for the elderly population! I have also assisted in the care of my own mother and moved back to this area in November, 2019 to do so.

When I was born, my parents were older. So, I just grew up with older people around me all of the time. Later on, my mother got sick and I cared for her for 8 years until she died. My father then got Alzheimers and I cared for him. I've just naturally always been a caregiver.

I do have my clearances and my back ground check and FBI check I became a care giver because i wanted to help the ones that need help with their daily needs .I like helping people with their daily needs and i love getting to know them and their family's . It's a great feeling to know that you are doing something and caring for someone that needs a little or alot of help . It makes me feel happy when the one i'am caring for is happy and their family is also happy with the care i give them . I have been a care giver for almost 20 years . I stopped working for awhile , when my Grandmother (103) was getting worse and she need more help before she passed this year . i wouldn't change doing what i've been doing .

My favorite thing about being a caregiver is the residents. I was first attracted to this job because I felt that it was important for me to play a role in my community is someway, and helping to care for the elderly was a good fit for me. I am friendly and fun and I love to learn new skills and to learn about the people that I am working with.
