I was drawn to caregiving because I've always had a strong desire to help others, especially those who are vulnerable or in need of support. The idea of making a real, positive difference in someone's daily life by helping them feel safe, respected, and cared for was deeply meaningful to me. It's a role that allows me to combine compassion with hands on service, which feels natural and fulfilling. What I enjoy most is building a genuine connection with the people I care for. Every person has a unique story, and being a part of their life whether through daily routines or simply sharing a conversation brings a sense of purpose. I also take pride in helping someone maintain their independence and dignity in their own home. It's rewarding to know that my presence helps someone feel more comfortable and supported. One personal achievement I'm proud of is caring for a client with early stage dementia and helping her remain in her home safely for over two years. Through patience, routine, and consistent communication with her family and doctors, I was able to manage changes in her behavior and health. Her family expressed deep gratitude for the comfort and stability I provided, and that experience reaffirmed my passion for caregiving.

I am prior military. While attending grossmont college, I was the president of the student veterans organization. I thought it would be a great idea, back in 2008, to have our veterans go into the community and help in assisted living facilities and skilled nursing facilities. After seeing how short staffed, over worked, under paid, and how these patients felt, I knew I needed to help. My children and I would paint their nails, do their hair, play bingo, assist in sporting events like the, in-house Kentucky Derby, with stick horses, play music, feed them and provide comfort during the holidays, make mobiles for patients one their ceilings, for the ones that could not get out of bed, and provide comfort for so many people that do not have family or friends to visit them.

I love the fulfillment I receive by being a care giver. My first job, off the farm, was as a CNA in a retirement home. There I cared for one of several wings full of elderly people all with various levels of need. I have found that working with the elderly and being able to bring stability and comfort to their daily lives, the most rewarding job I've ever had. I take care of elderly couples in their 90's to ensure their life quality at home. Love my references.... Today, my grandma is still living independently in a very large home; at the age of 99; that she has maintained for many years. With some outside help, such as myself, she is able to go on living there instead of a retirement home. I look forward to working with my clients and see how I can make things safe and capable for them. I've also come to realize, that even a person, my own age, can have so many needs too and with just the right person to assist with the activities of daily living, makes all the difference in the world to so many people.
