My primary personality trait in dealing with people is patience. I love to hear seniors share their life and experiences. And I am a good listener. I realized that I had a knack for caring for seniors while I was primary caregiver for my own mother for 10 years. After she passed away and I needed income as a single parent and Biblical Counseling student, I realized that my years as my mother's caregiver had given me valuable on-the-job training that I could utilize to help others. Because of my genuine love for people, I enjoy listening to and communicating with seniors. I especially cherish opportunities to learn about life from the vantage point of a senior's perspective and experience. I cared for my mother from the inception of her Alzheimer's until she passed away some 10 years later. I recently cared for a dear friend's mother for 6 months who was suffering from pancreatic cancer. And for the last 18 months I have and am currently caring for another friend's mother who is 89 years old. I have been able to assist these ladies through difficult health and emotional situations with finesse.
