I assisted my grandmother and her sister after they were in an accident. She encouraged me to become a caregiver. I enjoy building a good rapport with those I care for. I like to help people be as independent as possible. I enjoy doing activities with people that they enjoy doing. My achievement is work related. I worked with a stroke victim who needed assistance with everything. I worked with him for two years, three times a week, four hours each day doing therapy with him. When I left the job he was toileting himself, dressing himself, making his own meals. Simple meals cereal, soup, sandwiches, frozen sandwiches microwaved. He was reading and writing as much as possible his walking had improved immensely. It was time for him to enter the public activities . It was a sweet but tearful departure we had become great friends. I have worked with seniors for 26 years, five of those being. In home care doing therapy and companion care. I volunteer at the Arlington Hts Nurses Lending Closet on Saturday mornings. I assist people get the proper adaptive equipment they need . I enjoy spending time with family and friends and attending church is important to me.
