I became an LPN in 1992. My career as a nurse was primarily in assisted living, Alzheimer's assisted living and nursing homes. I hurt my back, at home, in 2003 and have had surgeries to correct slipped discs. I can, however, help care for people where lifting is not required. I've been working for a man who had a stroke for 5 years as of 10/2019. They are a wonderful family and will gladly give a reference if requested. I also worked around 4&1/2 years for a lady who cares for the elderly in a couple of houses she owns in Aurora. I had to leave there in August 2019 as lifting was becoming inevitable there. But I did enjoy it. I did light cleaning, laundry, medication administration, light dressing, toileting and cooked and served meals. I also provided simple companionship. I also cared for my elderly grandparents. My grandma had Alzheimer's. It was very difficult for me but, I was extremely close to them and loved them dearly.
