Working from a care plan created with the family I assisted with my clients ADL'.S as needed. Dressing, bathing, oral hygiene, prepared all meals and two snacks daily. Have a background in nutrition so am able to cook for any diet requirements. Went on outings almost daily including walks around the neighborhood. We joined the YMCA together and would go there 3 times a week for walks around the track for both social and physical needs.Took her to all appointments, Dr's, dentist, hair dresser. I managed all her medications including calling in refills when it was time. I kept a one week supply in a dispenser in case another care giver is ever needed and to assist family in knowing exactly what has been given. Familiar with thickening liquids if swallowing becomes an issue. Also have experience with tube feedings and under the direction of the physician/family wound care. We shopped together when she was able. Major emphasis on dementia care. Did light housekeeping including all clients laundry, floors etc.. I was with this client all the way through the hospice phase. Hopefully I achieved the goal of the family and I and gave her the death with dignity we all deserve. This client was 94 years old.
