About Alison

Hello! My name is Alison, I usually go by Ally. Being a caregiver is one of my main career interests, as I am in nursing school right now to finish my bachelor's degree and pursue a career in nursing. I grew up in a big family, with seven siblings (five of which are younger than me), my mom and dad, and my grandmother who struggled with Alzheimers and lived with us until she passed away in 2017. Since I was little, I have always loved giving back to others through care. It's not always what you do, but how you do it and why you do it, that makes being a caregiver so special. I enjoy meeting new people, trying new hobbies (like painting or scrapbooking), learning, singing, and doing whatever it is I can to best accommodate those in my care.

Experience & Education

Nanny/Babysitter

Nov 2015 - Present
The Chiddister Family
I babysit as needed for a single mother of one throughout the summer and over the holidays. As a nanny/babysitter, I am responsible for keeping the little girl on a breakfast, lunch, and dinner schedule as her mom requests, as well as a consistent nap and bedtime schedule as her mom requests. I provide entertainment (like coloring, reading, and supervising playdates), and I occasionally am responsible for transporting the child to and from her extracurricular activities when her mother is at work or otherwise unavailable to do so.

Patient Care Technician

Aug 2018 - Dec 2018
Parkview Regional Hospital
As a part of the primary care team, one of my main focuses was to monitor each patient's condition. As a patient care technician for Medical 7, my responsibilities included assisting patients with daily cares and routines like bodily and oral hygiene, ordering and/or helping them eat their meals, going for walks with them around the hall or making sure they kept up with physical therapy orders, and keeping the patient's room clean and organized for their comfort. I also was responsible for floor routines such as taking vital signs, blood sugars, bladder scans, turns, assisting the nurses with dressing changes, creating patients charts, charting any patient updates into the computers, and transporting patients. I obtained my BLS (CPR and AED) Certificate through AHA while training for this position at Parkview.

Sales Associate

Jul 2017 - Jul 2018
Designer Shoe Warehouse
As sales associate for DSW, my responsibilities included customer service, processing truck and shipment, cleaning and sanitizing the store (bathrooms, mirrors, and trash), working with other associates to straighten and organize the products, answering the store phone for questions or setting up meetings/interviews for the store manager, setting up design and feature areas, and working at the register as cashier. Multitasking to complete two or more of these assignments at a fast and balanced pace was also one of my top priorities as a sales associate for this company.
