This is a unique senior living community, that offers assistance to independent assisted living and memory care residence. Working in assisted-living compared to the memory care is an entirely different world! My heart was drawn to memory care!!! My daily task consisted mostly with behavioral side. Ranging from total assist, to holding their hand as they take their journey home. I learned to have a special talent for the compassion and level of stability I am a able to maintain during such an emotional Time. I strive to maintain dignity, Respect and Quality over quantity! My goal is to make this time as peaceful for my patients as I could as they took their journey home. During my time here I walked with five people holding their hand and caring for them after to prepare them for their families! Daily charting maintaining care plans and overlooking Another resident assistant to give me us partner to help with the smaller task as I maintain the larger task

I had three clients, all three required different levels of care. Client A: Her care was a special kind of care she just needed a friend, and someone to look up to! So my role was a companion, I prompted medication at prescribe times ensuring the proper milligram was being taken, some light housekeeping, And caring for her kitty cat Tinker Bell! I was there for observation mostly, to document any changes in behavior medication's body language and or signs of distress. Occasionally vitals had to be taken and showers assisted Client B: observing and charting physical and mental conditions, assist with shower housekeeping light shopping and care for her cat Bella! Client C: 38-year-old stroke patient, tracheotomy care, G-tube care/feeding, oxygen, respiration and suction care. Medication prompt, mechanical transfers, complete for bed bath daily, exercises, including PT 0T in speech! This girl stole my heart and became my very best friend as she could not talk so we would communicate through an alphabet board with a laser pointer! After a year with me she had went from completely bedbound to now riding in her very own electric wheelchair! A vocabulary of 200 words and daily striving to push forward and recover

I have 20 years of experience in the medical/nursing field. I've worked in nursing homes, hospitals, and agencies and have found that in home care is the field best suited for me. I tend to be drawn toward Alzheimer/dementia patients as I'm learning my approach in care, they tend to respond to me best. I have worked with several families and helped to restore certain independence to patients with walking, dressing, feeding themselves. I ran a restorative therapy program for over two years in a nursing facility before deciding to take a home care position with an agency.

I am looking for a part time position with hours in the evenings and/or weekends. I became a Caregiver because I enjoy being around people. My grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and after my grandfather passed away, I would visit her frequently to do her hair and other small tasks for her. The more time I spent there, I discovered how much I loved it. I got my Caregivers certificate within months and have never loved what I do so much. I love being able to help others. I love encouraging them to embrace what they can do and help them, gently, with what they are unable to do, now. Even though the job may be difficult at times, the reward at the end of the day is always worth it. I have worked in some very challenging circumstances where my patience, joy and understanding are challenged. I am proud to say that I have learned to understand where my client is coming from in different circumstances. I have learned to be patient with them during any situation and to be joyful before, during and after any trying time. I am a people person, with a big heart, who cares immensely for other people. I am trustworthy, kind, patient, caring and understanding.
