I take pride in being a compassionate, caring person and a helper by nature. I have an empathetic outlook on the world and care very deeply about others and their wellbeing. My strong communication skills also make me a great candidate for becoming a caregiver. My father was diagnosed with Alzheimer's 12 years ago. Watching my father's needs increase over the years has attracted me to becoming a caregiver. Each day that passes, I see his need for assistance with daily tasks increase. I know how essential it is to put his needs first while also preserving his dignity. While many moments are tough, there are also many beautiful moments. One time, when I knew it was hard for him to remember words, I said. "It's ok Dad, I forget too." And he responded "thank you .... I knew you understood." Moments like these help me cope with the progression of his disease. Over the years, I have successfully navigated through many hardships. As a single mother, I knew I needed to be more present in the lives of my children while also being able to financially provide for them. I was able to launch a successful business out of my home as a hairstylist that has allowed me for financial stability while also having flexibility over my schedule. Just recently, I moved into a new home only a few doors away from my parents to allow for involvement in the care of my father.
