I have a BA degree in psychology and over 15 years experience in life span development, planning and care. I have spent much of my career working as a manager or administrator but I have found that I prefer working directly with the people I serve. I have since 2014, devoted my energy exclusively toward direct care. I have a strong work ethic, I am not afraid of long days and I am fond of starting and ending those days with a smile and a good attitude. I should also mention I have unique experiences for a lay caregiver. I have 5-10 years doing (in no particular order) g-tube feedings, using hoyer lifts, giving bed baths and showers safely, completing needs assessments, writing formal and informal goals, medication administration, attending doctors appointments, tracheotomy care, positioning for non-ambulatory or movement limited individuals, taking vitals, feeding individuals with dysphagia, preparing and cooking meals to meet the requirements of a mechanically specific diet (puree, mechanical soft, thickened liquids), and more. I really like caring for people and getting to know their particular style and personality. I have always enjoyed working with people with intellectual struggles and physical disabilities. On a more recreational side, I love to sing and if the people I care for like it, I will sing whenever it makes them happy (although I am not beyond using it to reward a good job eating at a meal or completing a difficult task!). I can be goofy or stoic depending on what works for the individuals I serve. Sometimes both if warranted. I am an avid student of motivational psychology and I am always up to the challenge of motivating others to do things that are safe and healthy.

I am a nanny for the only child of two busy, working physicians. I have been her nanny since she turned one. in 2018. I am responsible for her care and safety as well as ensuring that she has many opportunities to learn and play. It is a vegan household so I also research and try new recipes on a regular basis to assist in finding foods she likes to eat. As I explained to her mother, I am a mom and when I am at your home, I pick up where ever you left off. That means I do laundry, dishes, household cleanup and meal prep daily.

I provide total care to adult with an intellectual and developmental disability that lives with family. The individual I care for is non-ambulatory and verbally limited. I am responsible for transferring from her bed to her wheelchair and back, regularly scheduled positioning, bathing, full assist spoon feeding of thickened liquids and pureed food with monitoring for dysphagia and aspiration, meal preparation (create dishes that are puree friendly and can be frozen), active treatment (singing, talking, engagement), passing medications with meals and cleaning related to her living area.

An educational assistant (EA) is required to create strategies to identify and meet each assigned student's needs and execute those strategies in the most consistent and safe way possible. EA's must observe students when they are working, offer assistance when needed and be prepared to give verbal praise and encouragement when warranted without disturbing or interfering with the other students or the classroom environment. EA's must be prepared to identify and address maladaptive behaviors displayed by assigned students and intervene to re-direct to assigned activities or offer guidance on appropriate behavior for particular situations. EA's must always display professional behavior while staying accessible and calm. EA's must communicate in a way that is respectful and easily understood by assigned students.

Supervised direct care staff and salaried group home managers. Responsible for planning and execution of all Person Centered Plans for 20-24 individuals residing in 3 assigned homes. Wrote and implemented behavior plans for all individuals with maladaptive behaviors and/or prescriptions for psychotropics. Ensured that staff were consistently providing assistance in ADL's and active treatment while maintaining the least restrictive environment possible. Group Homes were surveyed annually by the Department of Health. I had three perfect annual surveys with zero tags during my tenure.
