I became a cna to help take care of people as they were more unable to care for themselves. At the time I did not fully understand what this job meant in any of its glory to me or the residents. I love helping people and am very empathetic to the residents and learning to cope and help them cope with whatever situation may arise. I am good with people and learning how to calm and connect in a way that they can feel comfortable expressing to me what is going on with them. I have learned that a routine plays a big part in their lives and they appreciate not being uprooted because of a new hire. We are the re for them. My grandmother was extremely ill and I took some time off to take care of her, and when she passed I didn't think I could handle returning to cna type work but I am ready now and cannot imagine living my life and not being in the nursing field. I believe the experience of losing my grandma will make me an even better cna and will push me to grow and prosper even further. ... more
