I train and compete in Kickboxing and Taekwondo. I train students, friends, and anyone that wants to learn. I teach them self-defense and competition fighting. The ability to see an individual that has been struggling with weight and cognitive problems improve over time is amazing. Training and teaching martial arts takes dedication. Exercise Physiology Tutor

Aug 2016 - Sep 2017
Dr. Michael Rogers,
This work was at Wichita State University. Tutoring the students in Exercise Physiology was an amazing experience. I learned how to communicate with them properly. I started to understand how work, kids, and life impairments can affect learning. When they were not understanding a concept, I would be patient and take another approach. They began to become the norm group, and even more, students asked to join. Sometimes they would need me for multiple hours and times, but I was able to dedicate my time to their success because it was my responsibility. They would give me feedback on my tutoring abilities. I learned that I speak hastily, so I have been working on my communicating skills. I was able to break concepts down and eliminate extra information that they did not need. I was able to do this because of their feedback.

Research Finding other Professors for Psychometric proprieties

Apr 2017 - Jun 2017
Dr.Brendan Clark
This was at Wichita State University. I sought out research experience for Psychology. I met Dr. Clark since I was not a student anymore. I could not participate in research, so Dr.Clark humbly gave me an assignment for an experience. Dr.Clark gave me a list of Psychometric properties and told me to find other professors that are doing research in the Psychometric property listed. I would search for professors online based on their published works. I would then give him the list and he would send me another. These other professors would be doing research with him. The task I performed took a vigorous amount of time and dedication, but I had to accomplish the task because it was my responsibility.

Volunteer

Dec 2016 - Apr 2017
Robert Aguirre
The Guadalupe Clinic is nonprofit health care facility that helps low-income families with health and supply care. My duties at the Guadalupe Clinic were: cleaning the bathrooms, feeding the homeless, organizing patient files, and making sure patients were comfortable.I looked forward every day to feed the homeless. The conversations I had with the patients. Revealed the suffering they had gone through. I started to have a better understanding of the psychological factors of the mind. They became the norm crowd I enjoyed playing pool with them, and help to carry their foods, and clothes to their carts. I would make sure they felt compassion in their lives. I also enjoyed the employees at the Guadalupe Clinic. They always gave me a task, so I could stay busy. I enjoyed helping them organize and delivering patient's files. The doctors and employees expanded my knowledge about the field. Volunteering at the Guadalupe clinic was a euphoric experience. I began to understand why caring is a must for all. Witnessing different illness and economic backgrounds, contributed to my desire to become a Psychiatrist. I wanted to volunteer more, but the head of the facility said I was volunteering too long. The head of the facility awarded me a gift for my efforts.

Affiliated Psychiatric is a Psychiatric clinic. I shadowed Dr.Shah and viewed him with his patients. I experienced viewing his interaction with patients of many different cognitive impairments. I was memorized about the medications prescribed, and which medications helped with certain cognitive impairments. I was able to communicate with the patients also, and I was excited that they were keen on me. They felt safe and secure to share their information with me.

Helping Elderly People with Exercise and Health

Aug 2015 - Jan 2016
Dr. Michael Rogers
I took a course called Fitness Practicum. We had to get up at five in the morning. We as a class had the opportunity to help elderly people with exercise and health needs. We would start with a warm-up, and then the older patients would choose any activity they wanted to do. We would walk, play badminton, and check their blood pressure. It was amazing that some of them were ninety years old and functional with their health routines. They would tell me stories about their life and appreciate my company. I really enjoyed working with the elderly patients. They taught me how to communicate and listen more efficiently.

I'm a new member of the Wichita community. My husband and I moved here from the Manhattan area where I worked as a para educator for 9 years. Needing a change, I worked toward my CNA,CMA, and HHA certifications. I have worked in Memory Care, Assisted Living, and Home Care and Hospice all of which I loved. I have an early work experience as an EMT,(no longer lisenced), and years in phlebotomy. I've also worked as a CNA in a surgical center in various areas of the building. I spent 1 1/2 years after we moved here, recovering from shoulder surgery and working in a preschool center while getting situated in our new to us house. We have two daughters, one is married with a 4 yr old and 8 month old and the other is a Jr in college at Bethel. I grew up a farm girl, spent valuable time with my grandparents, and have been involved in many activities myself and with our kids. My family has always come first and I have always worked jobs that would allow me to live and be in their moments as they were and are happening! We are total hands on grandparents to our grandchildren when needed and possible. I love flea markets, refurbishing furniture, I have my own picture painting site, yard sales, shopping, and being in our yard. My heart and soul are extremely down to earth and when I enter a clients home, they are what matters while I am there. Their comfort and happiness with my work, long after I leave, is important to me until I see them again.
