I started with caregiving when my dad was diagnosed with Parkinsons. He started to have real difficulties getting around, so I felt I needed to find a job that I could help my mom take care of him, and work also. I've always been good with the elderly so I went to school to get certified as a caregiver for the state of Arizona, picked the hours that I could still take care of my poppa and I got on line applying for caregiver jobs. I've been doing this for 8 years now and I've had one dear client pass and my loving poppa has passed as well. This has been the most rewarding experience I have had in my lifetime. I find its extremely rewarding to help in any way I can in making a difference for someone that can't help themselves or just needs assistance. I am dependable, organized and sincerely honest. Schedule appointments ,prepare all meals daily, household cleaning, laundry and shopping for groceries. Maintain meds are given and ordered then picking up when needed. I've provided private care for Margaret for 6 years . Recently Margaret has passed. My job description varied to include all ADL"S but more accurately she became a personal family member to me. I have cared for her in her daughters home for four years and then two years when she was taken to a skilled nursing facility. That was a condition the family made when deciding it was time for her to be placed there. Towards the last year she was placed on hospice and many times of dire sickness I pulled her thru taking constant care of her needs. She had advanced alzheimer's but remained positive and refreshing daily. She was a truly unique lady.

I took care of several different clients in this company. Started 24 hour shifts then 12 hour days. Transferring clients, house keeping, toilet transfer, changing sheets while client in bed, using a hoyer to lift client from bed, cooking and dressing and showers/baths, doctors appointments and shopping. After about 3 months with company they asked me to take on a full time client from Monday thru Friday day shift for 30 hours and I have been with her for 6 years now, doing 45 hours of work weekly. Similar things done to care for her. She needs a sponge bath daily and shower two days per week. I make her breakfast and lunch. I dress her and help her to the toilet, and to walk with my assistance. She is now 98. The company closed the private care department, so with one week notice I was out of a job. Thankfully this client liked me they asked me to stay on and they would pay me.

Home Instead

I took daily care of two clients . Both clients needed companionship, taking them out grocery shopping, doctors appointments, cleaning their homes, laundry, cooking and showers. I drove my vehicle and never had any incidents. I worked outside with one client that had a beautiful garden and loved the outdoors. Sadly, she passed away and because my other client was only three days a week for 3 hours each day I had to seek work elsewhere.
