About Laura

What makes me a capable, compassionate and trusted care giver is my background and experience in both psychology and Social Work. My advanced education, internships and former career as a clinical Social Worker are valuable assests. I bring a unique perspective to the role of caregiver. I have experience working with clients with a diagnosis of dementia. I decided to end my career path as a Clinical Social worker to care for my own aging parents with their own complicated health issues. As a therapist I worked with many elderly clients concerning the important need for both independence and assistance throughout the aging process. It was both and honor and a privilege to forge strong clinical, theraputic relationships with them. As far as my personality I am an outgoing, talkative listener. This means that I love to chat but love to listen just as much. I feel very comfortable in social situations and meeting new people. And I love to cook! My proudest achievement was attending graduate school and holding down a full-time job for much of the duration. I graduated with a 3.93. I was a tenacious and dedicated student. I am no longer a licensed Social Worker but I am looking for the opportunity to help others, especially elders. I believe that my education and professional experience make me a strong candidate for a role as a caregiver.

Being honest and taking responsibility for my actions. Adaptability and compatibility; I get along with others. Drive and determination; I will strive help you keep going no matter what. Compassion and empathy; I can relate to others well. Patience; I will take all the time in the world if that is what's needed. Courage; I will do what's right in tough situations. Loyalty; I'll do what it takes to earn your trust. I'm attracted to being a caregiver because I enjoy getting close with families and building a relationship with them to make their situation a little easier. If I can be there for someone I want to be there. Making memories are worth a lifetime. One piece of my life that I've always been proud of is back in elementary school when I helped this one student who had spina bifida, use a walker, and wheel chair most of the time. I was their to open doors, move chairs, get things when needed, or help them out when they were tired. Over time it was recognized then was nominated for the Service Above Self Awards.

I have been in Healthcare since receiving an Associate in Applied Science, Medical Assisting in 2007. My first experience was in a doctors office. I learned there that I wanted to be able to help others more, so I decided to change my path to Home Health. I began working for Home Instead Senior Care in 2011, I also took care of my great grandmother who suffered from very late stage dementia. I understand how important it his for clients that want to stay in there own homes and be as independent as possible, I enjoy helping them reach that goal. I am very passionate about the home health field. I'm compassionate and understanding to their various situations.
