I have tremendous compassion and empathy for people. I served in the Peace Corps in Guatemala for nearly 3 years and helped many people with the daily problems of life such as getting food, shelter and clothing. Sometimes when a person was sick and didn't have any money for a doctor visit, I would pay for their medical cost. Additionally in the year 2000 I helped bring back an uncle move back into his home after living in a nursing home for 6 months. He didn't like the nursing home and was perhaps slipping into helplessness and early death. However, after I brought him abck to his house and home, he regained his vitality and energy. I stayed with him for 8 months to make sure he was safe and able to live independently again. I made all of his purchases including food, getting him to a barber making sure he was able to move around in the bathroom without falling and getting him a home health aid when I went to my job from 8 am until 5 pm in the afternoon. I made sure his laundry was cleaned weekly and when his refrigerator broke down I had it fixed immediately.
