I have worked as a caregiver in various roles, from special education to group homes, since I was 16 years old. Even when I took time off to be a mom, it was to raise an internationally adopted child who needed various therapies, etc. I am 56 years old now, and my wish is to secure a position caring for a person, or persons, who is/are older and/or have a disabling condition and wish to remain safely in their home and community. Let the young generation care for the children. Schools and education have changed so much, I find myself in need of a change, a different direction. I have a great deal of respect for, and patience with, older folks. Being "not so young" myself, I can understand the needs and wants of an aging person. I do not have a certification now, but I am more than willing to learn and acquire any certificate or skills necessary to carry out my tasks and to put family and friends at ease. I have a CT driver license and insurance. I am happy to say I have never received a ticket or been involved in an accident in all my years of driving. I do not smoke or drink at all. The only drugs I take are prescribed by my doctors. I am very familiar with animals, and comfortable with their care, as I am involved with rescue and rehabilitation of dogs and cats.
