I chose to become a caregiver when I was very young. i watched my mother put herself through school until she completed her masters degree to become a nurse practitioner, and her motivation motivated me. I spent every summer volunteering at the nursing homes and hospitals where she worked, and as an adult I chose to start my path as a CNA. The more I learned on the job, the more I loved what I do. I have a genuine desire to help those who cannot always help themselves, and a loving demeanor that fuels my capabilities. I am just as proficient in emergency situations as i am in the mundane. I have worked in an ICU step down LTAC hospital; I have seen and helped save lives and I have cried with families when a life was lost. I have fed, bathed, toileted, showered, shaved, weighed. You name it, I've done it. There is no other career for me, because of my genuine desire to help people keep quality throughout their lives, my attentiveness, humor and open heart, beyond just my knowledge and skills. I have had so many touching experiences with patients of all sorts, from surprising a sick widow a Christmas tree after she told me how much her husband used to love the lights, to being asked to be another woman's Healthcare proxy. I have held aching hands well into the night, sung to the terminally ill, held those experiencing anxiety attacks until their heart rate fell and they went to sleep. I am not your typical caregiver. I am full of love, empathy and fun. I am a mither, a daughter
