I cared for my mother till her passing (Cancer, Alzheimer's patient/non-ambulatory). In doing so, I acquired real-time knowledge and experience about cancer and Alzheimer's stages, causes, and symptoms. The crisis inspired me to research and understand other common senior related illnesses (e.g., diabetes, respiratory diseases, musculoskeletal: osteoarthritis (inflammation of joints due to wear and tear), osteoporosis (bone loss), gout, loss of muscle mass, fractures). That research led to further studies on hormonal issues including diabetes, high blood cholesterol, dementia (Alzheimer, etc), Parkinson's disease, strokes, poor vision, hearing impairment, and balance problems, in addition to visual conditions (e.g., macular degeneration, glaucoma, cataracts, diabetes and hypertension related eye disease). Another aspect of my mother's care included working with various medical staffs. In essence, I acquired in-depth knowledge about patient's support services and enrollment requirements and procedures.
