The reason I become a caregiver because I enjoy taking care of the elderly, sick, and handicapped. I enjoy making sure client are safe, healthy, and comfortable and will treat my clients and family members with respect. I started home health aide in 2000 and I have excellent letters of recommendation from clients and my past work history. I am dependable, honest, work well under pressure, I enjoy doing activities with my clients, and playing educational games. I have been during home health aide for over thirteen years and currently working with my current client. I am certified in American Heart Association, Licensed in under the DC Board of Nursing in Home Health Aide and also have a certificate in activities assistant. I was a nurse in the Philippines and my experience as a caregiver began with taking care of my diabetic aunt. After graduation I took care of several patients in their private homes. As a caregiver I have had the chance to understand the needs of families. I am always present and able to provide around-the-clock care. My main responsibility as a caregiver is to provide assistance with the medical, personal, and emotional needs of the patient. I am skilled at administering medicine according to doctors' orders or simply reminding patients to take their medications. I also assist with activities of daily living - I can help with bathing, grooming, dressing, mobility, exercising, meal planning, nutrition tracking, transferring from bed to wheelchair, and keeping company. I can also do light housekeeping, prepare meals, and provide emotional care to the family members. Caregivers prevent family members from feeling burnt out. As a caregiver I feel that I have contributed a lot by improving the health conditions of my patients. I find nothing more rewarding than caring for them.
