About Andrea

I am passionate about treating others as I wish to be treated. I have a special place in my heart for children and elderly. I believe these ones are our future and our foundation, respectively. They deserve our utmost care, concern, patience and respect. I was raised by my great grandmother (my mother was very young when she had me and her mother died giving birth to her). My great grandmother instilled in me the importance of treating everyone well and always reminded me that I might "one day be in those same shoes". I've never forgotten that and it has been instrumental in how I look at persons and their situations and have that desire to help in any way that I can. I really enjoy seeing someone smile when they haven't had reason to do so in a while, or helping them to achieve a small goal when they thought it to be too difficult for them. I like letting them know that they do matter and that people do care about them. I had to 'get over' my fear of blood and needles in order to assist my current client. I did not want them to feel like I was disgusted in any way to what they have to live with and do through no choice of their own. So, I put a smile on my face and watched and learned and encouraged them. I am proud that I have no qualms about blood and needles now. If it helps them, I am good with it.

Acceptance of medical supplies for dialysis. Inventory of supplies, and help to place them and stack them in her home. Also take out the trash daily which consists of used medical supplies as well as typical home waste, prepare meals, vacuum, wash dishes, change bed linen, do laundry and accompany to medical appointments and classes/training for kidney transplant (taking notes and asking questions to further help my client understand and gather pertinent information).
