Experience & Education

Home Health Aid

I dressed, bathed, fed, the woman I worked with, she happened to be my mother in law. She was chronically ill and could do little for herself. I made sure she was as comfortable as I could make her. I told her stories, sat with her, watched television together, I did light housework when she would rest. Outside of the home I was an Activity Assistant in a Healthcare facility in Cincinnati, Ohio for over three years. Around 1993 I became a Certified Nursing Asst, I worked in that field for about two years in a few different nursing care facilities.

I planned activities for small and large groups. I led those activities, I called the Bingo games weekly. I went on outings with residents, I helped set up decorations for parties and would take them back down afterward. I made sure that the entertainment that we hired was there on time and everything went well with that. I read to some of the patients, we celebrated all major holidays together. We had cooking classes, movie days with popcorn, watched baseball games together or football games. Played some table games. Prior to doing activities, I became a Non Certified Medical Assistant in Ohio, in 2007
