My name is Stefanie. I have been a caregiver since I was 8 according to my great grandmother. She had glaucoma and a pacemaker and cancer. My mom was always a caregiver. I'm also a mother of 3 beautiful kids. I think being a mother makes me a natural caregiver. I am currently a caregiver for a wonderful Bulgarian woman who is 85 with dementia. She is my boyfriends grandmother. I remind her to take her medicine, help find tasks for her to do around the house so she can feel accomplished and spend time with her. I am patient and take care when talking with her, even when I have to repeat myself or remind her of something I already told her. She is trying to teach me Bulgarian, which is fun. I love sitting with her in the mornings, drinking coffee and talking about her life. Up until now I have always worked in an office. I realized recently that being a caregiver is something I love and am passionate about. I'm very organized and dedicated. I just want to help give meaning to others lives and help them to enjoy each day. I love listening to stories of times past. I love spending time with my kids, watching movies, listening to music and telling jokes.
